Gary D. Gilbert served as Senior Vice President of Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) until his retirement in June, 2014. Gilbert joined HPH in 2002 with responsibility for North American activities. He also served as chairman for the HPH Security and Safety Committees. HPH isthe world’s leading container port owner, operator and developer, managing 53 terminals/ports globally in 27 countries. HPH global throughput in 2012 was over 78 million containers.
Prior to working with Hutchison Port Holdings, Gilbert was President & CEO of FedEx Logistics (1999-2001) which provided integrated product flow management and supply chain solutions for the aerospace, automotive, healthcare, technology and retail sectors.
The majority of Gilbert’s career was serving in various operating capacities with the leading U.S. ocean carrier, Sea-Land Service (1976-1999). His roles included President of Sea-Land Logistics, VP/GM Latin America, VP/GM Asia, Chairman of Asia Terminals Ltd and Director of North American Operations.
Gilbert received a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and a Master of Science (M.S.) in transportation from the University of New York. He also served in the U.S. Navy as Lt. USNR.
